Love from Miri. ;)

First of all I would like to thank Monterines for choosing me as Blogger Of The Month. I feel honored. Thank u dude! I am sure the other co-authors are far better than I am. Maybe I have a lot more free time than u guys here. So thats why I got to blog about my daily life. *smiles*

So if u are following my blog, u will know that I am currently in my hometown for a week break. For the past few days I've been so busy with the Eid preparation. Lucky for me I got 3 brothers to rely on. *grins* My younger brother helped me a lot and that makes me love him to bits! He has always been helpful to his only sister.

And if u have been reading my blog, u'll know that I have met my Oko for the second time this year. It's very hard to meet up with her due to my studies. I am not studying at my hometown and she lives in the village, faaaaaaaaar from my hometown so she seldoms come to Miri.

My Oko.

Yep, yep.. Her ears are long. Thats one of their culture. I am a mix of Malay and Kenyah. Mom is from the Kenyah tribe. They can only be found in Sarawak, Malaysia. If you got the chance to come to Sarawak one day, I'll find time to show u guys around aight.

In my village, we still live in long houses. The long houses are super cool and I love, love it! There are more than 15 families living in the long house and they live peacefully. I especially love it when its Christmas! On Christmas Eve, everyone will gather at the long house verandah along with foods and drinks.

I dont have any pic of my long house but I have some pictures of long house taken when I was holiday-ing with my friends. Yep, instead of staying in hotels we checked in into a longhouse. How cool is that?

But since this long house is for business/tourism purpose, it is not as long/big as the ones u may found in the villages. But roughly this is how it looks like.

Breathtaking...

the stairs are unique

beautiful scenery

rooms

So what do u think of long houses now? Cool right?

PR Updated on 27, sep, 2008

Hi friends, one important and joyful news to all of them, who own a blog. All blog's Pagerank are now updated by google. One of my blog had got 2 PR. So check your blog PR now by using this link. But this will be a bad news for those who had lost there PR during this update. Don't feel about that, we can regain it in google's next PR update.
I say sorry to my fellow co-authors for not updating the blog because i was busy with my model exams. But now i'm back to the form and will update the blog regularly. Bye friends... See you people in my next post.

Holla!

Holla! *high five*

Sorry for the lack of update! I've been very very busy lately. I hope everyone is doin fine! Well, if u have been reading my blog for the past few days, u guys should know how excited I am to be back to my hometown.....TODAY!

I will be back for a short holiday. The Muslims are goin to celebrate Eid ul-Fitr in less than one week. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the fasting of Ramadhan.

I usually feel excited when it comes to celebrating Eid. My relatives will come and gather at my grandparents' house. Each would bring something. It may be cookies, cakes, carbonated drinks, curry, etc.

My beloved grandfather passed away just few months ago and I still feel the sadness. This year's Eid is goin to be different without him. I dont feel the excitement. I dont even have a new pair of baju kurung. Mom asked me to make a new pair, but I declined. I dont have the heart to celebrate Eid this year.

So since I don't have a new pair of baju kurung, I will be wearing my mom's. Blergh.

Teachers...

Hey all! I would like to introduce my 2 wonderful teachers today. They are the Mr Wong (old guy in the middle) and Mr Suhaimi (The shades guy).

Mr Wong is a Mathematics teacher and Mr Suhaimi is a Full Humanities teacher. They both have helped me a lot throughout this year. I believe that being a teacher is a tough job if your class is totally inattentive everytime. But they always have to bear with it as it is their job after all. Nevertheless, they have shown me lots of care, taught me lots of new things and life skills and lessons to make me a better person and leader.

Teachers are somebody needed in everyone's life, no one is without a teacher. Anyone can be a teacher, what diferentiates some from others is the amount of effort they have put into teaching their students. I hope that all of you should try and show your appreciation to all your teachers, thank them for imparting their knowledge to you, as they are also human beings like us. People with feelings and a heart, everyone likes to feel needed. Thats what we should do! to make our teachers feel that they are needed by us.

Here's a moto from my School which is held by all the Patrician teachers:
POTEST QUI VULT - which means HE WHO WILLS, CAN!

Happy blogging! :)

The Only Thing Better Than Hitler On Ice

So...this is still just a rudimentary idea thus far and is not fully developed...let me know if you think I should give it a little more juice and actually produce it...

IDEA FOR A SHORT FILM: "Drowning Hitler"

Two people debate whether or not the world would be a better place if Hitler hadn't started WWII and exterminated millions of Jews...one is the uncorrupted Paladin-type of person while the other takes a more neutral position saying we can't be sure of what will happen if we change things...butterflies and earthquakes and such...

Enter Corn..."HAI GUYZ! I BUILT A TIME MUSHEEN! LET'S FUCK WITH STUFF!"...and so they go to solve the debate...

They appear in 1912, Germany...Li'l Hitler is taking a relaxing stroll by a riverbank...they argue briefly over who should do it...

RPS ensues...

Righteousy McPaladin is the lucky winner...he kicks Hitler into the river and proceeds to drown the bastard...sobbing while he does it (after all, it's a little kid)...they go back to the future...

*maniacal cackling*

Drastic changes have occured (as punctuated by the line "What the fuck happened?")

A narrator comes on and explains the impact of Hitler's demise including, but not limited to, the following...POLAND, THE SLEEPING GIANT, ROSE UP IN 1934 AND ENSLAVED THE REST OF HUMANITY...THEY CAPTURED EINSTEIN AND DEVELOPED THE H-BOMB, THUS SEALING THEIR POSITION AS THE SUPREME RACE...THEY GENETICALLY ENGINEER THEMSELVES TO HAVE 18'S IN ALL STATS AND DEVELOP TRIANGULAR UNIFORMS WITH SILLY HATS BECAUSE L. RON HUBBARD SAYS THEY'RE MORE EFFICIENT...

"Told you so."
Corn - "Well I guess we should go back and fix it."

They go back to mere seconds before they arrive...

"So how do we stop ourselves?"
"Simple. We just tell-"

Corn cocks a pistol as their past selves appear and fires 3 shots as the other 2 scream "no"...

As they watch themselves bleed out the face...

"Huh...I thought we might start fading out of existence or something."
Corn - "Don't be ridiculous...that only happens in the movies."

*pause and awkward glance towards camera*

"So what should we do now?"
"I dunno."

*pause*

"HEY! I KNOW! LET'S GO BECOME OUR OWN GRANDFATHERS!"
All in unison - "YEA!"

BLACKOUT

I hope you enjoyed it...now, I leave you with the comedy stylings of Stephen Colbert...embeded with a reference you grognards will appreciate...enjoy!...

Me and a Mac

I am suppose to be in the library studying my Medical Microbio notes BUT I checked out a Mac and the Photobooth application has occupied most of my time. I think I have read 1 whole page in 1.5 hours.
I discovered a new feature on photobooth that I wasnt aware of previously so I had to come of with something to do. And this is it "Look down... look left.... look right.... look up"

It took me like 500 times to get it right lol Anyways I'll get back to studying, now that I have accomplished this task .
=]

This Is Something I've Been Wondering For A Long Time...

...and now I have an answer...

U Go Girl!

Usually I don't feel confident in wearing short sleeves to classes. This is due to my leopard skins. Since having leopard skins is rare in Asia, I always have people staring at my fugly arms. *sad* =(((

I know I am lucky. At least I didn't inherit some serious disease like AIDS, heart problems and all that. It's just my skin. Right?

But I think I am going to class with short sleeves today. I wanna build my self-confidence. I don't care if people give this disgusted stare at my arms or talk about my skin behind my back.

I was born like this. This is me. I shouldn't feel bad about myself. Unless if I did something bad. Right?

I'm sexy but I have leopard skin. Is that OK with u?

I KNEW ABOUT THIS BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE!

I love animation...if I had any talent for it, I'd be an aspiring cartoonist...but alas, I don't...so I satisfy my creative aspirations through my writing, short films and D&D (when I've got players, that is)...but I still have a soft spot for animation...

As a result, I've got a series on my blog called Flash Friday, where I take my past week of internet cruising and showcase the best flash cartoon and flash game I found in my travels...this week's edition covered some RPG-themed material that I found...the cartoon I chose was created by the brilliant Adam Phillips, my favorite animator of all-time...as a result, anything else I may have found was knocked out of the running for mention on my blog...

A tough decision...but sometimes I can't help myself...I found this one today*...it's about 30 seconds long, but it speaks to the heart...

We all know that guy...you know...the one who always rushes up behind you when you've just discovered something new on the internet and begins blabbering about how he's already seen it or "that's old news"...they're the expert on the subject and you're his nubian inferior because he heard about it before you did...

Funny thing is, most of the time they're talking out their ass about it, having only seen it themselves a few minutes beforehand...that one moment where he can feel superior to you is the highlight of their day...

Watch this...it made my day...

*For the record, I saw this before everyone else did...I was the first one...

Oily Baby

It's weekend and I lurrrrrve weekends!! I'm sure everyone else loves weekends too. So these are the things that I usually do on weekends:

1. Catch up with studies.
I'm a slow learner so I need more time to digest whatever things that my lecturers have thought during the weekdays.

2. Watch DVDs. (If I'm in the mood to watch.)
I don't actually like to watch movies. I don't know why. So if I got bored, I would bang on my friend's door to borrow some DVDs.

3. Gossiping!
U can find me at my friend's room gossiping about whatever shit that happened during the week. I love, love spending time with my friends!

4. Outing to town!
This is one of the best activities. I heart outings! It can be tiring though.

5. The most exciting part? I would pamper myself with QV Bath Oil! Yeah. I am Oily Baby on weekends!

I know. I look fugly in the picture. I dont care coz I love the oily feels. The reason why I have to use Bath Oil? It's because I inherited lentigines from my family. Lentigines is also known as Leopard Syndrome and age@liver spots. U have no idea what lentigine is? Google it babe!

So one of the ways to slow lentigines is to use bath oil. I'm using QV Bath Oil and lemme tell u, it's quite expensive. *sad* Lentigines is rare in Asia though. Only the elders have it. Not youngsters like me. It's different in the western countries if I'm not mistaken.

So tell me, is it common to have lentigines in western countries?

No rash driving...

Hi friends this topic is in the category of both social and personal. Today while i am going to the college in my college bus i saw an accident happening in front of my eyes. Two boys not aged more than 20 were going on a bike, overtaking our college bus. The boy who was driving the bike and the boy sitting back to him were looking on our bus and the girls on our bus were also looking on them. The boy driving the bike didn't look the lorry that was going in front of his bike. Without looking the lorry he raised the bike and the bike wheel caught into the lorry's wheel and within a fraction of second the bike had totally gone into the lorry's wheel. The head of the boy who had driven the bike has been caught into the wheel and came out with full of blood, thus he lost his life without any reason. But God's grace the boy who was sitting back to him has got escaped with a severe injury. The lorry driver was crying because of that boy's death and our college girls had also started crying. Our senior students got out of the bus and rescued that boy, who was severely injured and took him to the hospital. Thus that situation had totally gone bad, due to that boy's rash driving and he was not wearing the helmet too. Thus we were not having the mood of going to the college, but our bus driver has started the bus and we went to the college. While going we were all thinking about the boys, who had met with the accident.
Thus our day turned into a sad one.
Friends, i advice you people not to drive the vehicles very faster. And while driving wear helmet or seat belt, this is a kind request from your friend. Think who is waiting for your safe return in your home...

The Happy Nerd.

My lecturer gave back our test paper back today. She was mentioning about the marks. She told us that she was disappointed with the grades that we got (especially in the objective part). As she was mentioning that the highest marks is 81% and the second highest marks is 71%, I looked at Lehod who was sitting next to me and said, "Darn. I wonder what did I get. I bet Imah is the one who got the highest marks." ^.^

As I was finishing my sentence, she called up my name. I was actually nervous coz I was talking when she was talking too. Which is rude. I know, I know. Then she hand in my paper to me. Gosh. First thing that popped into my mind: "Darn. I got the lowest mark."

I didn't expect to see the figure 81% there at all. Wahhhhhhhhh..... Freakin' happy!! What makes the test hard is the objective questions. They are soooooooo confusing! And I'm glad I got the highest for that too. I got 7/10. *smugs*

*the happy nerd*

Today...

Marks the 7th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. To me it definitely does not seem like it was a whole 7 years ago. I guess that's because many of us remember exactly what you were doing and where you were when the events took place.

I was 13 years old, sitting in my 8th grade Lauguage Arts class, second row second seat. The television was in the corner to my left. I do not remember doing any work that day in class. Every class I had following that one, the t.v. was placed on CNN. And everyone just watched. I was in my French class when the 1st building collapsed and I was like OMG WTF.

I guess the severity of the issue did not hit me until I got home and my mother was on the phone with everyone, my uncle called me and asked "do you understand what happen today?"

I have the newspaper from Sep. 12th 2001. I am saving it for my children I guess.

"Remember 9/11, Never forget" was posted everywhere! I am doing my remembering by reflecting on what I was doing at the time of the attacks. I do it every year pretty much. I try to attend a candlelight vigil if I can find somewhere close that it holding one.

No one will forget 9/11 anytime soon. I mean that fact that we call it "9/11" helps engrave it in people's memory. It can be 60 years from now and when you go to write the date on a sheet of paper, or look at the date on your phone, you will remember.

I was comparing it to Pearl Harbor, and how not many people know the date on which it happen.

"9/11" is definitely 'a day that will live in infamy.'

And I know, for myself, that the image of planes and the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon (among other things) will motivate me to get up an vote for our next President. In the last 7 years, 2 wars? have started. I don't know if its 2, I'm slighty unclear on that issue. But nonetheless, I am sooooooo soooooo soooo ready to vote in my 1st election =]

Obama '08 baby!!!

Futureviews: September Blows

This is Futureviews (foo-too-reh-voos), a segment where I review movies that haven't come out yet...and then gloat quietly to myself as you inevitably agree with me...ain't I a stinker?...

Happy September, everybody...well, sorta...September is one of those lame months of the year, where you're not quite used to the academic routine but it's in full swing...the weather sucks (i.e. Hurricane Ike being sorta outside my window)...and the choices as far as the box office goes are both broad but limited...assuming of course you have enough common sense to avoid things like Bangkok LAMEgerous...not to say I haven't liked Nicholas Cage in some of his movies (i.e. The Wicker Man), but come on...if you've already seen Wanted, there's no point in checking this one out...

Anyway, on to the heart of this post...INGEST MY BASELESS OPINIONS, NOW!...

Burn After Reading - George Clooney, Brad Pitt, the cop from Fargo, and John Malcovich in a Coen Brothers film...need I say more?...

Watch! That! Shit!

Righteous Kill - Sounds like a topic I should debate with my paladin, but it's a movie with Robert of Niro and Al Pacino investigating a series of murders...having seen 88 Minutes about 88 times, I've lost any flavour I might have for this kind of movie with Pacino in it...it's an okay movie, about as good as Vantage Point...

I'm not going to watch it, but if you've got nothing better to do, go ahead...

Tyler Perry's The Family That Preys - Now, I haven't watched any of Tyler Perry's work...I hear it's all fairly hit or miss and I haven't really had any interest in any of them before this one...the trailer makes it look like a solid drama, though reading the synopsis worries me when I find out that a good portion of the film is dedicated to the matriarchs going on a cross-country road trip...that ain't my kinda deal, but I'm still going to give it a glance despite my reservations...

It's worth a look...

The Women - It's The Last Kiss with more chicks and less Zack Braff...if I know my readers at all, y'all are as uninterested as I am...if I'm wrong, remind me to reprimand you next time I visit...

Not even a combination of sex, Reeses pie, and 8-hours of D&D could make me watch this film...

Ghost Town - Mediocre comedy...like The Sixth Sense except the main character is actually alive for most of the movie (and Dumbledore dies and Vader is Luke's father and it was Colonel Mustard with the Lead Pipe in the Library)...probably just as funny too (I laughed)...

I'm not gonna watch it, but it wouldn't be a bad decision to do so...

Lakeview Terrace - This movie is not a work of fiction...we all know Samuel L. Jackson is a badass in every way imaginable (FUN FACT: Did you know that Scorpions on a Ship is the first production Jackson has turned down a role in since he was asked to play a Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard in a high school play?)...shoot, some of you may have even thought to yourselves "Golly! Wouldn't it be great is Samuel L. Jackson was my neighbor?"...

Well, you're wrong...this is not a work of fiction...it's a documentary...may it serve as a warning to you all...

My Best Friend's Girl - I feel sorry for Jason Biggs...American Pie both made and destroyed his career...however, he has served us well be acting as a harbinger for bad romantic comedies...

Plus, Dane Cook is lame...don't watch this...it's not going to be good...

Eagle Eye - I love Shia LaBeouf...he is one of those few actors who simple cannot be in a bad movie...he's a young actor, but that's still a great accomplishment...plus, Billy Bob Thorton?...shit, yea!...he's way too good an actor to be in some of the movies he's been in...but he still does quality work...

Watch this one!...

The Lucky Ones - Rachel McAdams, Tim Robbins and Michael Peña go on a road trip...I generally don't like road trip movies...they tend to blow...especially with 2 dudes and a chick...

Unless of course, you're traveling through Limbo...don't watch this...

Miracle at St. Anna - I generally enjoy Spike Lee's work...Do The Right Thing is one of my all-time favorite films...and this looks like it'll be no exception...I am most definitely going to see this film...the trailer gives me this nice creepy feel that I don't often get (unless I'm watching Gurren Lagann, in which case I'm in Constant Shivgasm Mode)...looks to be a WW2 drama with a hint of supernatural mystery and probably some attention called to racial divide...

Maybe we'll see some folks that aren't black or italian in this one...go watch...

That's it for this month...tune in again in October for another barrage of biased, but accurate Futureviews!...

My Dream

I had a dream of my late grandfather two nights ago. This is how the dream was:

I found myself attending a function where I don't know any of the people there. I looked around for familiar faces but I can't find any. As I was looking around, I saw my late grandfather figure at one of the tables.

He was glowing. He looked at me and smiled. I froze. He came and sat next to me. He was just looking at me and smiled. I swear I could feel his presence that time and thats when I woke up.
When I woke up, I think back about the dream and I cried.

There are so many things that I want to tell him. Like, I get the highest marks for my Accounting test. How I have finally met Alex after he has disappeared for 2 years. That I have start praying 5 times daily.

Dear paknek, I missed u so very much and thank you for 'visiting' me. It's been long since the last time you came into my dreams. I remember the last time u came was on the night u passed away. U told me to shed my tears away. U told me everything will be alright.

U have always taken good care of me. I enjoyed the lunch we had together, the time when we watched the news on TV, the stories u shared with me, the trip to the clinic, etc. U always came to visit me at home just to check on me. U don't mind giving me fish heads though they are your favorites. When you were in good health, u always treat me with Kolok Mee and Apam Balik.

And everytime I come home for holidays, u were the most generous person. U gave me money when I was at home and also before I fly back to my campus. Though I didn't ask for any, u will just place them in my hands and I can't give them back to u.

I'm glad I have been your most favorite grand daughter. *smugs*

Please come again, dear paknek! I missed u so much.

Picture was taken in 2006 on the first day of Eid. My late grandfather and me. *Al-Fatihah*

Paknek = grandfather.

Emily Speaking. Can You Hear Me?

I write poetry to deal with emotions. Even though some seem sorta suicidal, I'm not. I just write a poem for how I feel at the moment. I also love indulging in a good book or spending my time at my cabin. More about me? Well... my ex boyfriend used to beat me, my best friend is gay, I've been struggeling with an eating disorder ever since my family started fighting, and I love to bitch about life on my blog. At least you meet the nicest people on blogger... Thanks Everyone.

Happy Blogging

About me and u must read...

Hey friends, i think its time for me to say about me. My real name is Nandha, but known to you people as Monterines. Its my nick name used by my friends in college. I'm currently doing my 2nd year B.E in Mechanical Engineering and I'm 18 years old. My hobbies are playing chess, blogging etc,. I think my idea is working good. Till today there are 9 authors for this blog including me. Here we can discuss about any common matters. At the end of each month we can select a blogger, who had posted good posts and received good attention from other fellow bloggers and award him a title "Blogger of the month". Each blogger should post at least 1 post once in 10 days and all should comment at least once in each post. I think this will work well and lets hope for the best. And the day for publishing the posts starts from day after tomorrow. All the best for all bloggers...

Proverb of the day: Machine rules the world, but a Mechanical Engineer rules the machines. Proud to be a Mechanical Engineer.

Hola!!!

Hello to everybody! =)

First of all, I would like to thank the person who has invited me to join this blog site. As required, every new member must at least writes a post about themselves. So here goes a brief introduction of myself.

My name is Izza Farihana and u can find me at www.izzafarihana.blogspot.com I've been blogging since last May, if I'm not mistaken. I started with Xanga before I was introduced to Blogspot. So I am still new in this arena.

I am from Malaysia and still struggling to get my Diploma. I will be graduating next year, insyaallah. I enjoy listening to music, making new friends, blog stalking, reading and anything that has fun in it. I am open minded, moody, loves to talk, hard to handle at times, whine a lot and so on(this one is for u to find out!). When I say I am open minded, don't get me wrong.

I can turn out to be a monster when I am not in a good mood. But please bear with me. Just wait around. I'll smile again folks! =)

I mix with a lot of people. I have friends aged from 18 y.o. up to 55 y.o. I mix with people from different walks of life. Some comes from rich family. Some are naughty. Some are professionals. Some are religious. U name it. Mixing with different people makes me understand life better.

So there u go. A brief introduction about me. Hope we'll get to know each other better soon. Goodbye for now.

Remember,please bear with me! =D

Hello from Malaysia!

What a wonderful idea Monterines :)

I love the idea of sharing what you see, hear and know from other countries in the world.

I am Faisal Admar a Malay guy from Malaysia. A guy who enjoys watching good movies, listening to some ear soothing songs, reading finance and epic fantasy books, learning about new things in IT, going vacation and learning other people's culture.

I hope we can share many things here.

Regards,
Faisal Admar

I Welcome u all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi friends thanks for joining as a co-author for this blog.... Even though you people were named as co-authors of this blog, speaking openly all the co-authors of this blog are real owners of this blog. So feel free to publish any type of post(other than porn matters) as you like and have fun. We had formed a group here and we should maintain this group as a stable one. I request all of them to post at least a post once in 1 week and all should comment on others post, so that we can interact among us.
Waiting for more posts and more co-authors...

Note: Before publishing a post add the code that i added to all the post titles of our blog. This is because, while publishing your post, the post title will be behind the posted day(ie,. your title will be over written by the the published day). Thus it spoils the post. So this code helps u to overcome this problem. Sorry for the inconvenience....

Thanking you

Yours lovingly
Monterines

The Priest Shows Up On Sunday...Coincidence?...

This is quite the interesting idea you've got, Monterines...allow me to introduce myself to you all...

My name is Reverend Mike...I'm currently a sophomore attending the University of Miami, majoring in Motion Pictures, Religion and Physics...I'm almost constantly jacked in to the internet and have a wide variety of traditionally nerdy interests, including but not limited to D&D, film, anime, videogames, all sorts of science, and pretty much anything involving science fiction and/or fantasy...so long as it's good, of course...

My other blog, The Book Of Rev, covers all that material specifically, so I'll probably do my more general posts here...I look forward to being a part of this international community...

Have a good day, all...
