Mokele-mbembe

Hi friends, here it is an interesting topic about an unknown animal to you…… It is nothing but Mokele-mbembe: meaning "one who stops the flow of rivers" in the Lingala language, is the name given to a large water dwelling cryptid(name of its grouping) found in the folklore of the Congo River basin. It is sometimes described as being a living creature and sometimes as being a spirit.

Several expeditions have been mounted in the hope of finding evidence of the Mokele-mbembe, though without success. Efforts have been covered in a number of books and by a number of television documentaries. The Mokele-mbembe and its associated folklore also appears in several works of fiction and popular culture.

According to the traditions of the Congo River basin the Mokele-mbembe is a large territorial herbivore, approximately the size of an small elephant or a large hippopotamus. It dwells in the Congo river and the surrounding swampland, and has a preference for deep water, with local folklore holding that its habitat of choice are river bends.

Descriptions of the Mokele-mbembe, by some legends describe that, it as having an elephant like body with a long neck and tail and a small head. It has been first seen and reported in the year 1776(march) and last sighted by Eugene Thomas in the year 1989 at the congo river basin.

This information tells that, the dinosauras family is still living on the earth. Since it is an herbivores, lets hope it will not eat the mankind……

Rainforest

The Amazon River Basin is home to the largest rainforest on Earth. It covers some 40% of the South American continent and includes parts of eight South American countries: Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, and Suriname, as well as French Guiana, a department of France.

Reflecting environmental conditions as well as past human influence, the Amazon is made up of a mosaic of ecosystems and vegetation types including rainforests, seasonal forests, deciduous forests, flooded forests, and savannas. The basin is drained by the Amazon River, the world's largest river in terms of discharge, and the second longest river in the world after the Nile. The river is made up of over 1,100 tributaries, 17 of which are longer than 1000 miles, and two of which (the Negro and the Madeira) are larger, in terms of volume, than the Congo (formerly the Zaire) river. The river system is the lifeline of the forest and its history plays an important part in the development of its rainforests.

How large is the Amazon rainforest?
In Brazil, the Amazon covers surface area of 4,100,000 square kilometers (1,583,000 square miles), of which around 3.4 million sq km (1.3 million sq mi) are presently forested. Accounting for parts of the Amazon outside of Brazil, the total extent of the Amazon is estimated at 8,235,430 sq km (3,179,715 sq mi). or comparison, the land area of the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii) is 9,629,091 square kilometers (3,717,811).

In total, the Amazon River drains about 6,915,000 square kilometers (2,722,000 square miles), or roughly 40 percent of South America.

To date, at least 40,000 plant species, 3,000 fish, 1,294 birds, 427 mammals, 428 amphibians, and 378 reptiles have been scientifically classified in the region.

Many mammals, still not known are also living in this forest. But deforestation taking place in these area’s will surely affect the life of these mammals. So Amazon should be protected from deforestation, otherwise the result will be very bad

Death triangle

Hi friends, this post is going to be about the worlds mystery "BERMUDA'S TRIANGLE"(also known as Devil's triangle). No doubt you have wondered about the Bermuda Triangle. It is the greatest modern mystery pf our supposedly well understood world: a region of Atlantic ocean between Bermuda, Miami, Florida, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, where disappearances of ships & planes not only continue but continue to defy explanation.

Storms are common in the region, and investigations to date have not produced scientific evidence of any unusual phenomena involved in the disappearances.

Some people were saying that ,this disappearances are due to the storms in that region and others are saying that,it is due to the heavy gravitational force in that area and some guys says that,it is due to some ghosts that are living under the see in that region and the imaginary skills of the people goes on ascending.

Recent Aircraft disappearances include:

Piper PA-46-310P N444JH on April 10, 2007, near Berry Islands.(under investigation)

Piper PA-23 N6886Y on June 20, 2005, Between Treasure Cay, BI, to Fort Pierce, FL (possible foul weather)

Piper PA-32-300 N8224C, November 13, 2003, over the Exumas, Bahamas. (No known cause)

What will be the reason for this disappearances........... Need to find a solution.

What was the fault?

Plane crashes are taking place all over the world because of many reasons. But many of them happens because of birds...The reason for the crash of Airbus A320, which had lost power and ditched in New York's Hudson River last month is found to be that both engines of the Airbus A320 were damaged and contained "organic material" which was sent to bird experts at the Smithsonian Institution for identification. But the board previously had said bird remains were found in the right engine, and now has confirmed the same in the left engine. So i request the birds to leave the way for the aircraft, that are coming on their way... Lol......

Wind powered car

We all know and heard only about diesel powered, petrol powered, gas powered, hydrogen cell powered cars. But have you ever thought about wind powered cars. Does this logic works. Majority of us will say no… But Rory Handel and Maxx Bricklinas from Beverly Hills, California made it true.
The supercar designed by them could reach a top speed of 155mph without harming the environment, for it runs on wind energy. The environmentally friendly Formula AE car will initially use a solar-powered battery to move, but later depend upon the airflow around it to power a turbine. The high performance car will take less than four seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph. The car is expected to cost around 100,000 pounds when it hits the market. The two-seater's bodywork boasts paper-thin solar paneling that could fully charge the battery in just 1.5 hours. However, this time will be reduced to just six minutes with a new prototype battery. A full battery would enable the drivers to cover more than 200 miles or to race around a track for at least an hour. An advanced alternating current induction motor with a power output of 212 kilowatts will propel the Formula AE. In fact, the chassis will be constructed from lightweight aluminium and super strong steel in a Formula 1-style monocoque shell. Rory Handel and Maxx Bricklinas from Beverly Hills, California designed the sleek motor of the car, and they expect the prototype to be completed in August.
So if this car comes for sale, it is sure that it is a big boon for us to save our environment from pollution. And it will be also helpful for us, as today there is more scarcity for fuel. So let’s wait for its arrival…

MOTO W233 Renew

We have seen recycling in many products like paper, cans, plastic products etc. But Motorola says that this is not enough… Motorola has now launched a cell phone made from recycled plastic water bottles. The name of the phone is MOTO W233 Renew. This good work made by Motorola will surely induce all the companies to make their product something different and also it aware the people about recycling. It is said that MOTO W233 Renew will hit the shelves during the first quarter of 2009 at T-Mobile stores. So let’s hope that this will be a nice one to use too…

Microsoft layoffs...

Today recession is taking place all over the world... Because of this many companies are laying off their workers in 1000's. In this row Microsoft too had joined. It has been asked to cut its workforce by 10%, or about 9,100 employees, to tell the market that profits are more important than revenue growth in difficult times. Thus recession made things too worse. It is said that there have been close to 20 lakh layoffs in 2008 alone. So some care should be taken by all the countries to stop this recession.

Social network really works...

We all know that social networking has really increased a lot in past few years. Nothing will work without network. It helps us to enlarge our environment. The year 2008 witnessed great growth for social media, sharing and networking properties and applications. More than 60% of the Indian internet users are using one of the social media platforms. We are witnessing a co-existence of global, local and niche based social networking platforms. Besides broad based networks, categories such as professional, education, entertainment and games will emerge as strong growth drivers for the social media. The second aspect that emerged in 2008 was the fact that young users in the age group of 18 to 24 from tier II and tier III cities began to aggressively enroll into social networking platforms. This is a healthy trend, given that social networking satisfies key needs of this young population besides enabling them to express across borders. To sum up, 2008 has been a remarkable year as consumer, advertisers and the entertainment industry have been able to realize the growing popularity of online space. Thus it is expected that this will continue at a much faster pace in this present year.
